There are several ways you can get involved in efforts to protect hemlocks in the Southern Appalachians.

• Donate money to help establish and operate facilities that raise the Pt beetles.

Please send your checks to:
Friends of the Smokies
PO Box 5650
Sevierville, TN 37864-5650

Indicate on the check that the contribution is for the “Save Our Hemlocks” initiative. The “Friends of the Smokies” is a partner on the Save Our Hemlocks Action Team, working to make sure that your contributions go directly toward reducing the hemlock woolly adelgid population in the Southern Appalachians.

• Monitor and, if necessary, treat your own hemlocks. See http://www.saveourhemlocks.org/controls/my_prop.shtml. Treating your own hemlocks ensures their health and helps to reduce the overall hemlock woolly adelgid population.

• Participate on the Save Our Hemlocks Action Team. Contact samab@samab.org.
